About North Shields Run Club

North Shields Run Club was built around a simple idea: running should feel welcoming, social and accessible.

We wanted to create something that felt less like a traditional running club and more like a community - somewhere you can turn up on your own, meet new people, move at your own pace and feel part of North Shields.

Our weekly runs are completely free and designed for a mix of abilities, from experienced runners to people returning after a break or joining a run club for the first time. Nobody should feel like they need to be fast enough, fit enough or experienced enough to take part.

More Than The Miles

The running matters, but it was never supposed to be the whole point.

NSRC is about the conversations before the start, the people you end up running alongside, the coffee afterwards and the friendships that develop from seeing the same faces every week.

It's about creating another way for people to connect locally.

That's why we're building relationships with independent venues, organisations and businesses across North Shields, as well as introducing social runs and events that give people reasons to spend time together beyond the usual Saturday 5K.

We want the club to contribute to the place it comes from.

Everyone's Welcome

You don't need a particular pace.

You don't need the latest running kit.

You don't need to know anybody before you arrive.

Our runs are built around an inclusive, conversational pace with regroup points and people looking after the front and back of the group.

Come as you are.

Born in North Shields

North Shields isn't just where we happen to run. It's part of the identity of the club.

The coast, the Fish Quay, the independent businesses, the people and the character of the town all influence what we're building.

As NSRC grows, we want to use that growth positively: supporting local independents, creating opportunities for collaboration and giving people another reason to feel connected to North Shields.

The First Chapter

NSRC was established in 2026.

What started as a weekly community run is becoming something bigger: more runs, more social events, collaborations, volunteering opportunities and new ways for people to get involved.

But the principle stays the same.

Free running. Good people. North Shields.

This is only the beginning.
